Acupuncture & Myofascia for the Neck, Back & Shoulders

About this course

This course covers distal acupuncture points for treating the neck, upper back, and shoulders. Course material is discussed in relation to the myofascial lines, anatomy, traditional point uses, meridian systems, and structural issues. There is also an emphasis on the Master Tung system and how this relates to traditional acupuncture points. Since many of the Tung points are located in areas of dense connective tissue, they help to demonstrate to role of the myofascial system in acupuncture. Point combinations are also emphasized, as is the concept of the Dao Ma. In the Tung system a Dao Ma is a group of 2 or 3 points in close proximity, often on the same meridian, and needled together. An example of this would be to needle UB 58, UB 59, and UB 60 on one leg. This is similar to the 7 Tiger point combination in the Master Tung system, and points in this region are effective for scapular and shoulder pain. The class will also cover the various levels of the myofascial lines and how this relates to traditional meridian concepts. The superficial and deep levels of the myofascia are related to the meridians and point functions. Needling techniques such as contralateral and ipsilateral needling are examined, as well as threading, and advanced treatment strategies.
