Apache Kafka: Security and Event-Driven Systems
About this course
Apache Kafka powers some of the world's most demanding data pipelines—and this course teaches you to operate it at an advanced level. You'll go beyond basic producers and consumers to explore Kafka cluster internals. Starting with offset management and poison pill error-handling strategies, you'll transition from ZooKeeper to the modern KRaft protocol and apply enterprise-grade security configurations to protect your clusters. Next, you'll explore the Confluent Platform—including Schema Registry for data governance and ksqlDB for real-time stream processing. You'll then use Kafka Connect to build automated data pipelines that stream live data directly into Amazon S3, working through connector configuration and Single Message Transforms. The course ends with a hands-on capstone project: provision infrastructure on AWS EC2, integrate backend services, and connect a live frontend to deploy a complete, end-to-end event-driven system from scratch. Who this is for: Senior developers, DevOps engineers, and cloud architects with working Kafka knowledge who are ready to tackle enterprise-scale operational challenges.
