Foundations of AI-Assisted Web Development

About this course

This course introduces beginner learners to the fundamental concepts, tools, and workflows required to build functional web applications using AI coding assistants like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Claude Code. You will develop a mental model of how modern web applications are structured — including frontend, backend, database, and API layers — and learn to translate that understanding into precise, context-rich prompts that generate clean, working code. Through hands-on exercises, you will set up a beginner-friendly development environment, navigate core developer tools (code editors, terminals, Git), and ship your first AI-built application to the internet. By the end of this course, you will have built and deployed a simple web application, mastered the basics of prompt engineering for code generation, and gained confidence collaborating with AI assistants to bring your ideas to life. This course is designed for non-technical professionals, career switchers, and early-stage entrepreneurs with little to no prior programming experience, and provides the essential foundation for success in the rest of the specialization.
