The energy industry is undergoing a revolution, with new grid models emerging, more renewable energy systems being integrated, and digitalisation and Industry 4.0 transforming how the energy business is run. Also, global geopolitics is ever-changing and dynamic, and so is the impact of population growth, all affecting how energy is secured and used. Energy supply infrastructures are getting older, and countries are depleting their reserves of finite energy sources and becoming net importers. Political will and poor policies are creating unintended energy supply and use consequences. The list is endless.
