This is a review of the Body of Knowledge for those that wish to pass the IAPP Certified Information Privacy Technologist exam. The main purpose of the Body of Knowledge (BoK) is to document the knowledge and skills that will be assessed on the certification exam.The CIPT Body of Knowledge consists of seven domains, each with a series of competencies (subdomains), and each subdomain contains performance indicators.In this lecture we will read through every domain, competency/subdomain, and every performance indicator. This will enable you to understand the contents of the body of knowledge much more quickly than if you simply start reading it on your own.It is not an easy document to read, nor does it cover all of the items that should be presented in a study guide. Furthermore, there are relationships between the domains, and there are some somewhat ambiguous items that require clarification.The domains reflect what the privacy professional should know.The competencies (subdomains) are clusters of connected tasks and abilities that constitute broad knowledge.The performance indicators are discrete tasks and abilities.Exam questions assess a privacy professional’s proficiency on the performance indicators.Let us prepare together for the IAPP CIPT exam and move forward confidently towards your certification.
