Introduction

Operations are complex and require experts in every position. Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) play a vital role in the perioperative team, working in this specialist and dynamic environment, they provide care during the anaesthetic, surgical and recovery phases of a patient’s hospital treatment. ODPs require in-depth knowledge and skills in areas such as anatomy and physiology, illness and disease, surgical and anaesthetic procedures, legal and ethical issues, and teamwork. With practical experience gained in a variety of settings, upon successful completion of this programme you will be equipped with the skills to enable you to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a qualified ODP.
